Water infiltration rate.
Water infiltration rate showed no significant differences among treatments in August 1990. Infiltration rates being high on all treatments, the range being 210-294 mm/hr (Fig. 4).

Ball roll or green 'speed'.
Ball roll showed significant differences among the treatments (Fig. 5). The "slowest" surfaces in terms of putting being produced by the high seed rate and the mature turf grown on heavy soil. The fastest surfaces were produced by the washed turf and Coronet turf.
